14 DAY TRIAL // Just as expected, Microsoft is preparing a special offer for those users who want to purchase a PC before Windows 8 is available to them, but who also want to upgrade to the new platform version after it is released.
Thus, the company announced that a Windows Upgrade Offer is set to kick in as soon as tomorrow, June 2nd, 2012, and that it would be available for all customers who purchase eligible computers.
We’re referring here to Windows 7-based PCs which have to be acquired in between June 2nd this year and January 31st, 2013.
Customers interested in upgrading to the next-generation operating system from Microsoft will then be able to grab Windows 8 Pro for only $14.99 (U.S.) during the time of the promotion.
The new Windows Upgrade Offer is set to become available for users in 131 markets around the world, including the United States and Canada, Microsoft announced.
The deal will be in place for all eligible computers that are purchased with Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate editions pre-installed.
All of these would have to include a matching and valid OEM Certificate of Authenticity acquired before January 31, 2013. The upgrade to Windows 8 Pro will be redeemable when the platform becomes generally available.
“When consumers register for the Windows Upgrade Offer, they will be able to download Windows 8 Pro starting the day it’s made generally available and the upgrade comes with 90 days of support from Microsoft,” the company explains. Microsoft will provide specific info on the new promotion today.
“In addition to the Windows Upgrade Offer designed for consumers buying new Windows 7-based PCs, Microsoft will also announce other offers in the coming months that will help consumers with existing Windows 7-based PCs upgrade to Windows 8 when it is generally available,” the company also said.
