There’s no doubt that the Windows Phone lock screen already looks amazingly good, but it turns out that Microsoft has found yet another way to improve its looks.

Living proof is the so-called Tetra Lockscreen app for Windows Phone 8.1, which was designed by the company’s Garage division and brings widgets on your handset.

Microsoft Garage is a special team within the Redmond-based software giant that encourages company employees to develop their own projects for Microsoft’s platforms, including Windows and Windows Phone.

The Tetra Lockscreen app, which only works on Windows Phone 8.1, comes with several widgets that can change the looks of your lock screen and make it a lot more helpful. For example, you can add widgets to see upcoming calendar events, view your location, display activity and burned calories, access a stopwatch, and visualize the pace of your day in a timeline.

Each widget also comes with its own configuration settings and users are allowed to choose which widgets they want to see on the lock screen. At the same time, options to change the lock screen background are also available.

As you can see in the photo gallery below, the app makes the lock screen look really good, but it remains to be seen if Tetra Lockscreen drains the phone’s battery or not. Either way, there’s no doubt that improvements will be rolled out very soon.
