Microsoft is yet to unveil some official sales figures on the Surface tablet, but given the fact that the cheapest version was sold out in less than 24 hours since its debut, it all seems to go according to plan.

Suppliers, on the other hand, suggest that Microsoft’s first tablet ever isn’t quite a successful product, as it could reach only 60 percent of the company’s sales forecast by the end of 2012.

Citing several suppliers in the tablet industry, Digitimes writes that Surface RT doesn’t bring a major advantage when it comes to the price/performance ratio, while the lack of support for legacy Windows apps isn’t quite appealing for many users.

The Surface Pro, on the other hand, is very likely to be a much more successful product, but it remains to be seen if battery and screen configuration could appeal to more user categories.

I've had my Surface RT for a few weeks now and am loving it. I'm not missing anything that would require an Intel processor, however, I will likely buy a few more for family members over the next few months and one will probably be the Surface Pro, which is Intel based. The average person is using it for email, browsing, personal banking, to Skype their friends, Facebook, etc., and none of these require Pro. Oh yes, almost forgot, most of what we are doing is exploring the plethora of really goof games and apps for Windows 8 which work equally well on either RT or Pro. Like Angry Birds Star Wars, .... and when you have Windows Phone 8, and yes, I purchased the Nokia 920 last weeks, and if you have any interest in gaming aka Xbox, combined with Xbox Music, the synergistic value is immense. My recommendation is to buy Surface RT early, like right now, get in early and enjoy the tremendous value. I can't see myself buying any android or apple products when the better choice is Microsoft.
