Microsoft's Openness Team had the pleasure of announcing that they are planning on hosting a "birthday party" in celebration of the release of the highly anticipated Debian 8.0 (codename Jessie) Linux kernel-based distribution.

The party is addressed to all those who attend the LinuxFest Northwest event, which will take place this weekend between April 25-26, 2015, in Bellingham, WA, USA. Jose Miguel Parrella, a Debian developer and member of Microsoft’s Open Source Strategy team, will be the host of the Debian 8 party.

All those who will attend Debian 8's party will learn about the new features implemented in the acclaimed operating system, as well as how the Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure can help bring Debian projects to hyperscale. Cake is included!

"Participants will walk through how Azure transforms the Debian system administrator and package maintainer work, including provisioning build servers, using PaaS for APT repositories, bootstrap-vz, and other interesting scenarios," was stated in Microsoft's announcement.
