Surface buyers should get the new Office when they receive their tablets

Microsoft said in September that all Windows RT buyers would get a free copy of Office that included the most commonly used apps, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.

Still, the company revealed that the first Surface consumers would only get a preview version of the productivity suite, as Office 2013 was initially expected to be released in November.

It appears however that the final version of Office 2013 is ready to be delivered, Ars Technica writes. A 580 MB update is delivered through Windows Update, so all Surface buyers should get the full Office 2013 as soon as they get their tablets.

Microsoft hasn’t yet commented on the matter, but rumor has it that the full Office 2013 removes the “Preview” branding from both the GUI and the splash screens.
