Redmond has promised to ship a preview of the browser in the next version of the Windows 10 Technical Preview

Microsoft launched Windows 10 Technical Preview build 10041 a couple of days ago, but contrary to what people expected, Spartan browser is not available for testing, despite the fact that the company actually promised to offer a preview version as part of this release.

And yet, it appears that Spartan browser does exist in some versions of the same build, so it's no surprise that screenshots showing Internet Explorer's successor have leaked to the web.

Russian leaker WZor, who has a pretty good track on Windows versions, posted a large collection of photos revealing the new browser, which, according to these screenshots, is part of the Technical Preview since build 10014.

As you can see for yourselves in the photo gallery below, Spartan browser doesn't come with too many features right now, so it's rather a very simple application that boasts a minimal UI and flat icons that seem to perfectly match the new approach of Windows 10.

Needless to say, Redmond is offering several feedback options to help improve the browser, so you can send messages whenever a site doesn't work properly, something doesn't look right, or you come across a problem with the browser.

To be included in the next build

The next Windows 10 Technical Preview build is now said to come with Spartan browser, even though there's obviously no guarantee that Microsoft won't discover another bug that would hold back its release.

Spartan will be offered alongside Internet Explorer in some Windows versions, such as those aimed at the enterprise market, but will replace it completely on the core and the professional SKUs.

The main reason Internet Explorer might continue to live on in some versions is related to compatibility issues, as it's a well-known fact that many companies are still running Internet Explorer internally for their own apps and services.

Spartan will be offered in Windows 10 as a universal app, so it'll work on PCs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones powered by the new operating system.
