Microsoft has launched Windows 8 almost one year ago and it recently introduced the new Windows 8.1, but its modern platform is yet to excite.

The living proof comes from third-party market researcher Net Applications which reveals that Windows 8 has a market share of 7.53 percent right now, while Windows 8.1 only reached 1.72 percent in the few weeks on the market.

This means that Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, Microsoft’s modern operating system, hold just a 9.25 percent combined market share which, to be honest, is not at all impressive.

Windows 7, for example, continues to lead the charts with 46.42 percent, while the aging Windows XP, that’s going to be discontinued in just six months, is still running on 31.24 percent of computers worldwide, according to the same set of statistics.
