Microsoft's Metro interface is one of the most controversial features of the new Windows 8 operating system, but it turns out that both users and developers have embraced this touch-optimized environment.

Stats provided by MetroStore Scanner, a third-party service that monitors the apps sent to the store, shows that more programs are being listed for download every day, while the overall app count is growing bigger on a regular basis.

At this point, there are more than 140,000 apps available for download, but the ascending trend is clearly showing that more developers have started porting their programs to Windows 8.1.

At the same time, Microsoft is working with several large companies and third-party developers who want to bring apps on Windows 8, providing support and launching several campaigns to explain that its modern platform is indeed a huge opportunity for those who want to capitalize on the popularity of their software.
