14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft rolled out five different bulletins on Patch Tuesday to fix security flaws in Windows, Internet Explorer, and Office, but it appears that one of the included updates is actually doing more harm than good.
According to a report by WinBeta, the update called KB2821895 and specifically aimed at Windows RT, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012 is slowing down Windows 8 unexpectedly, especially after running System File Checker.
The computer stops responding for about 30 minutes and the app generates a log file claiming that it was unable to fix problems with the system.
While Microsoft is most likely investigating the issue as we speak, a temporary workaround has already been found. Simply launch a Command Prompt window and run this command with administrator privileges:
