CEO Steve Ballmer yesterday announced a major restructuring plan for the Redmond-based tech giant, trying to make internal divisions work closer and ensure a profit increase on the long term.

As far as analysts are concerned, Ballmer has done the right job by starting this reorg, as Microsoft was until now just a company organized by Bill Gates.

“I think this is something he should have done a while ago,” Rob Enderle, principal analyst with the Enderle Group, told V3.

“For the last decade he has been running Bill Gates' company, and you can't do that, you have to make it your own.”

As part of the reorganization, Microsoft will focus more on devices and services, trying to migrate from the software concept that brought it on the first place of the operating system market.
