It's still in beta and available for select number of users

We reported yesterday on Microsoft's Project Hyperlapse, which is now very close to being released to all Windows Phone handsets. The application is now available for download via Windows Phone Store, but it's still in beta so only a select few can actually get it in their smartphones.

Now, the folks over at WindowsMania.pl have managed to get the application and run it through a Windows Phone emulator to see what it’s up to.

They even recorded a video showing the Hyperlapse application in action. First of all, as you can see, the app has a basic UI, likely due to the fact that it's still in beta and the main focus should be testing features.

It's also worth mentioning that, when ready, Hyperlapse will allow users to create up to 8X speeds of capture, which will then be processed through the application to remove any shakiness.

Some social networking features are implemented as well, which means that users will be able to share their Hyperlapse videos using several options.

No timeframe for the release of the final build of Hyperlapse yet

Hyperlapse promises to make video recording while hiking, jogging or biking much smoother. Many of you probably know by now that even with OIS (optical image stabilization) some videos still look shaky.

However, with Hyperlapse all this shakiness should be totally removed to offer the best video recording for a smartphone.

According to Microsoft, their method of processing videos “can fill the missing regions in the video above by stitching together pixels from multiple input frames. Thanks to these two innovations we can handle much 'wilder' input videos, such as climbing or riding.”

Keep in mind that Microsoft plans to launch this app on Windows Phone first, but the technology can be applied to any other smartphone available on the market.
