No official announcement on this departure though

Busy morning at Microsoft today, as CEO Satya Nadella has just announced a big internal executive shake-up that sees former Nokia CEO and currently the head of the Devices and Services unit Stephen Elop leaving the company.

But it turns out that, together with Elop and the other executives who have already been confirmed to leave the company, another high-profile Microsoftie and former Nokia employee is departing, according to a report by The Verge.

Jo Harlow, who already worked together with Elop at Nokia and joined Microsoft when the former CEO of the Finnish phone manufacturer returned to the company, is said to be leaving too, although no official announcement on this is available at this point.

Nokia employee since 2003

Jo Harlow is not a long-time Microsoft employee, as she joined the company last year, after the software giant completed the acquisition of Nokia's Devices and Services division. She was appointed the head of the phone division at Microsoft after moving to the software giant as part of the executive migration following the deal, and continued working with Elop at the company.

Harlow joined Nokia in 2003, but only started working with Elop and reporting to him directly in 2011.

Her role at Microsoft will be taken over by Windows chief Terry Myerson, who will become the head of a new team called the Windows and Devices Group.

“[This group is] focused on enabling more personal computing experiences powered by the Windows ecosystem. This new team combines the engineering efforts of the current Operating Systems Group and Microsoft Devices Group,” CEO Satya Nadella said in a statement today.

At this point, there's no information on Harlow's next destination and Microsoft is yet to confirm her departure too, but we've reached out to the company for more information and will update the article when we have an official statement.
