Trying to get back in the game.

Today, Microsoft finally released the enterprise version of their Windows Desktop Search product. The next generation document search functionality has been brought to businesses around the world.

"These new enterprise-class enhancements to the desktop search capabilities we introduced last spring will empower IT professionals to deliver higher productivity, lower IT management costs and greater ease of use throughout their organizations", said the MSN Search corporate vice president Christopher Payne.

Apparently, this new desktop search fad has materialized into the main battlefield for most of the more popular search engines. These now include Microsoft, Yahoo and Google.

Although the new release of the search tool is more up-to-date, there isn't anything too spectacular about the add-ons. The big bright spot is that the new search toolbar lets business users search within their corporate intranet, but it won't index or crawl through corporate data.

The desktop search will be included in 15 languages and unlike its toolbar counterpart, the business users won't have to constantly launch the toolbar to get to the search function.

Product planner Heather Friedland added that "We will be looking to enhance the consumer versions of our product later this year with similar features."
