Microsoft may not bring the Office productivity suite on iOS and Android platforms before 2014, according to a leaked product roadmap, and this decision could actually be a breath of fresh air for rival Google.

The Mountain View-based search giant purchased QuickOffice in 2012, and the company is now pushing harder to make its own Office suite available on mobile devices, including iPhones and Android-powered smartphones and tablets.

While both iOS and Android versions of the software are already up for grabs, rumor has it that Google plans to make it available for a broader range of devices, including iPhones.

Microsoft, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be too keen on bringing its own productivity software on iOS and Android, and Windows devices apparently remain its main focus.

In addition, the company is working on a full Metro port of Office that would take advantage of Windows 8’s new interface, but also on improved versions of Mac and Windows Phone builds.
