This is the only voice assistant that can correctly answer this question

As part of its Windows Phone 8.1 announcement, Microsoft has unveiled its answer to Apple’s Siri personal voice assistant, Cortana. The name shouldn’t surprise anyone given the tons of rumors that predicted the launch of Microsoft’s own personal voice assistant.

Voiced by Jen Taylor, Cortana is still in beta and will only be available in the United States at first, after which it will be released in the UK, with the rest of the countries following soon.

While on the stage during BUILD 2014 developer conference, Microsoft’s VP for Windows, Joe Belfiore, explained and demoed some of Cortana’s feature and the differences in comparison with other personal voice assistants.

There are lots of videos showing Cortana in action posted on Microsoft’s Windows Phone channel, but we found one in particular to be very funny.

Here is Cortana answering a rather simple question: “Who’s your daddy?” I’m not going to spoil it for you, so it’s best if you watch the 10-second video below.

Keep in mind though that Cortana will be offered along with Windows Phone 8.1, so if you do not plan on purchasing one of the new smartphones announced yesterday, you will have to wait until the new OS is delivered via an update later this summer.
