Nadella: here's what Microsoft does best

If you're asking the CEO of the world's number one software company, Microsoft, Google, and Apple, three of the world's largest tech companies and rivals in several key businesses, are all different entities, even if customers often compare them and their products.

Nadella talked about Google's, Apple's, and Microsoft's way of doing business in a new event at the Redmond campus, explaining that even though they seem to be compete for the same goals, they're all very different from the Redmond-based tech giant.

How exactly? That's simple, Nadella says, as Apple is all about hardware right now, and that's pretty obvious since the fruity-named company sells millions of iPhones and iPads every year.

“To me Apple’s very, very clear, and, in fact, I think Tim Cook did a great job of even describing that very recently where he said they sell devices and that’s what Apple is all about,” Nadella said.

Google, on the other hand, is much more focused on its advertising business, even though the core of everything continues to be the search engine.

“Google is about being, it’s about data or it’s about advertising, it is about serving you ads in a tasteful way, and they’ve done a great job of that business,” Nadella pointed out.

Microsoft: it's all about our customers

While both Apple and Google are focused on different sides of their business, Nadella says that Microsoft is more different than its rivals in a way that puts customers at the core of everything.

In Microsoft's case, it's all about the user, he explains, so offering people across the world productivity tools to get things done faster and easier is a priority. Empowering everyone to work more effectively no matter the device is what drives Microsoft forward, he adds, pointing out that Redmond wants to be “the tools provider.”

“We have a revenue model and a business model, but to me the place where Microsoft can be distinct and where it comes naturally to us more so than anything else is from the creator of a document to a developer writing an app, to anyone else who is in the business of actually their own creation we want to be the tools provider,” he says.

It's no secret that with Satya Nadella at the helm of the company, Microsoft has become more focused than ever on customers, and the firm's new products are mostly developed with help coming from testers and users across the globe.

Feedback platforms have become a lot more popular among Microsoft users in the last few months, mostly thanks to this willingness to collaborate with testers across the world, and as things seem to evolve right now, many of the suggestions that customers submit are really taken into consideration by the Softies.
