Microsoft is reportedly planning to launch the second-generation Surface next month at BUILD, but rumor has it that Samsung Display could provide the tech giant with touchscreen displays.

While LG Display and Taiwan-based manufacturers are out of the manufacturing deal, Digitimes writes that Samsung would provide Microsoft with 7.9-inch panels for what seems to be a smaller Surface unit.

In addition, it might seem like both Samsung and LG Display could manufacture larger displays for a second Surface unit with 10.6-inch screens, again projected to see daylight next month.

Of course, nobody knows for sure whether these details are accurate, so take everything with a pinch of salt until someone working for Microsoft comes to confirm the second-generation Surface.

One thing is for sure though: a smaller Surface would most likely see daylight sometime this year.
