The software giant from Redmond persists in its attempts to limit the actions of pirates related to Microsoft's most used operating system, Windows XP.

It seems Bill Gates doesn't accept the idea that his products are the most pirated, so he launched several actions intended to limit the illegal distribution of Microsoft's products.

In November, the company announced that it replaces pirated versions of WinXP with genuine ones.
This
measure was initially announced for Great Britain, the company claiming this is a new measure of fighting software pirating.

All users with preinstalled versions of Windows XP (the campaign is valid only for this version of the operating system) will receive a genuine version if they can prove their copy is pirated.

In addition, Microsoft threatened to withdraw the users' right to update the versions that cannot be authenticated.

Microsoft has launched a program called Windows Genuine Advantage which will grant users access to security updates only after they prove the authenticity of their products.

Now, Microsoft announces the American users that they will receive compensatory sums if they own a pirated version of Windows, provided that they reveal information about the source of the pirated version.

In other words, you rat out on the provider of the pirated version, let him deal with the copyright protection authorities, and Microsoft rewards you with a genuine Windows version.

Microsoft claims these pirated copies are sold to fool users, which we all know is a joke, anyone buying from the corner of street being aware of the risks.
