Microsoft refocuses on PC gaming

Microsoft has big plans for gamers... as always. It appears that the interest, the sales and the market share of PC games has decreased by 10% each year. And if you can imagine, all this is Microsoft's fault, as they recognized it in this article

Microsoft has decided that this cannot continue
anymore and if we suspect correctly there will be a great deal of money invested, or so declares Chris Donohue, group manager at Microsoft

All this sounds very appetizing, but how will it come to happen? Apparently Microsoft wants to put the money where the mouth is, meaning that now, with the launch of Xbox 360 they can concentrate on restoring the credibility of the "Games For Windows" concept by performing the " biggest ever investment in Windows gaming".

This probably means they are going to restore the retail support from Microsoft back to were it belongs and rally all the big game publishers behind it. And all this before the launch of the Vista OS. Can they do it or is the console momentum to big to match?
