"Stirling" is a product based on a single management console that provides protection across client, server applications and network edge and that represents the newest Microsoft`s Forefront product.

Unveiled on 4th of June 2007, "Stirling" delivers unified security management and reporting and makes Microsoft the first security products vendor to offer "unified protection, policy control, and security management with a single console".

Margaret Arakawa, senior director of Security Product Marketing at Microsoft gave some details about this new Forefront product - the "Stirling". She announced that "Stirling" is going to include versions of "Forefront Client Security, Server Security and Edge Security and Access solutions, plus a unified management console". The customers of the existing products will be able to easily upgrade to "Stirling".

What will make "Stirling" more useful than the current security solutions is the fact that it will bring integrated protection as well as critical visibility and unified management altogether in a single product, this way simplifying the security task of IT environments. Therefore the customers could only be happier and able to experience a safer IT infrastructure as nowadays they have to face multiple difficulties in providing safe IT environments for their companies.

The single console of the "Stirling" is considered to be a big difference too, as it will allow to view the overall security state of the organization in a quick and easy way.
Margaret Arakawa also mentioned that Stirling represents the result of the Microsoft strategy and research as far as IT security management is concerned.

Despite the fact that there is already a general trend toward the intersection of security and management, the reality is yet different in the opinion of the senior director, as she said that the other vendors are not capable of delivering the quality of "integration or unified protection, reporting, and visibility that Microsoft can." Therefore the "Stirling" represents a milestone not only for Microsoft but for the whole IT industry and customers as well.
