Black Friday is not far from us, so important tech players have already announced some of the deals they will be offering for the occasion.

Microsoft, for example, has announced it will be partnering with Walmart (among other retailers) to offer a fully-fledged Windows 8.1 tablet for just $99 / €78.

We’re taking about the E FUN 8-inch Nextbook which will be available for pick up in Walmart stores across the country on November 28.

The tablet is currently available for $149 / €118 from Walmart, so if you don’t want to wait until the big day, you can go ahead and purchase it now. However, in a few weeks you’ll be able to spare 50 bucks.

The E FUN Nextbook is your average, budget Windows 8.1 tablet. It offers an 8-inch display with the standard 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. In the hardware department lies an Intel Atom Z3735G (specific for cheap Windows tablets such as this) fitted with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Other specs include frontal and back camera (0.3MP and 2MP), microHDMI and Bluetooth 4.0. Apart from running Windows 8.1 straight from the box, the tablet is offered with a one-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 Personal, which includes 1TB of storage in OneDrive.

HP Stream 7

But the E FUN Nextbook 8 is not the only Windows 8 tablet to sell for a $99 / €78 price tag. Not so long ago HP pushed out a tablet with the same price, albeit it comes with a slightly smaller 7-inch display.

Other than that, the specifications remain quite similar. That means you’ll get the same 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, Intel Atom Z3735G processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and 1-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365. So as you can see, only size sets the two slates apart.

Toshiba Encore Mini

There’s a second tablet that has been discounted to sell for the same price. You can currently pick it up from the Microsoft Store for the same $99 / €78, but the specs are a little bit lower when compared to the two models we outlined above.

The Encore Mini is a 7-inch display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution with 16:9 ratio. The tablet relies on the same Intel Atom processor fitted with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage and is said to be capable of offering up to 7.3 hours of battery life on a single charge.

So compare your options a little bit, before heading out to purchase the E FUN Nextbook 8 from Walmart next week.
