The video game publishing division of Microsoft and the credit card giant American Express say that they are ready to offer actual real-world money to all those who are willing to play Halo 4, the upcoming shooter created by 343 Industries, while also synchronizing their online identities.

The two companies are encouraging gamers to link their American Express credit card with the identity they are using on the Xbox Live service for the Microsoft home console.

The system is called Card Sync, which is designed to match the two different identities while making sure that no sensitive information is actually shared between the two companies.

Once identities are synchronized, gamers will have credit added to their cards for a number of behaviors.

When it comes to Halo 4, players with an American Express card will get the most rewards when they complete a mission in the new Spartan Ops mode, regardless of their difficulty level.

Players will get a 50 dollars (38.6 Euro) voucher, which becomes active for any 100 dollars (77.2 Euro) in spending at Best Buy.

Completing the Wake Up John level on Normal or a higher difficulty also gets the gamers 25 dollars (19.3 Euro) in credit.

Microsoft and American Express also plan to offer a trip to the E3 event in 2013 to the first 30 gamers who do the sync and then go on to complete Halo 4 on the Legendary difficulty level.

Only those who are residents of the United States are eligible for the promotion, which involves American Express and Halo 4.

The game will be out exclusively on the Xbox 360 on November 6.

It will see Master Chief and Cortana explore a Forerunner created planet.
