The company has confirmed that it’s still working to address the problems

As I reported to you not a long time ago, Microsoft issued a new firmware update for the Surface Pro 2 in an attempt to fix some of the problems caused by the botched firmware version that got out in December 2013.

It turns out that the company is still working on a fully-working firmware update and the version that was released during the weekend is only supposed to correct wake and battery bugs.

“This weekend we released an update that addresses the unexpected wake and battery drain behavior experienced by a small number of Surface Pro 2 customers who installed the December Windows Update. This should have no impact on customers who had not received the December update. We are working hard to deliver the rest of the December update to those customers who had not received it prior to it being removed from distribution,” a company spokesperson was quoted as saying by ZDNet.

As you can see, if you didn’t install the December 2013 firmware update, you’re not going to need this new one, so the new version might now show up in Windows Update on your tablet.
