Microsoft announces that it is delaying the launch of the Xbox One home console on eight European markets into 2014.

The affected countries are Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.

The device is still set to arrive this year, in November, in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand.

The team says, "We understand this will be disappointing news for our fans in the impacted countries, and we are doing everything we can to bring Xbox One to you as soon as possible next year."

Those in the affected territories who have already ordered an Xbox One will be compensated with a free game.

It seems that Microsoft has met some difficulties when it comes to completing localization work for the affected countries.

At the same time, the demand coming from other territories means that Microsoft wants to focus on the biggest markets first.
