At the start of July 2009, Microsoft acknowledged the fact that customers were experiencing intermittent errors on Windows LIVE Marketplace. The Redmond company indicated that it was actively working to resolve the issues. However, at this point in time members of the Xbox LIVE community have not received information on the source of the error messages they are coming across. Customer reports delivered as feedback to the Xbox Live Operations team reveal that the issues are not new in any manner, with some
users pointing out that they first started experiencing sporadic errors on Xbox LIVE Marketplace after Microsoft introduced an update to the service in mid-June.

“We’re aware of intermittent errors in Marketplace that are affecting Xbox Live, Xbox.com, and Games for Windows. You may run into one of a few different status codes including 80004004, 807B01F4, and 8015000a. It may also show that you haven’t purchased content that you have – don’t worry, we haven’t lost your purchase even though it may appear so,” revealed a member of the Xbox Live Operations team. “This can occur whether you’re searching Marketplace from the Dashboard or from within a game.”

Microsoft explained that a team was investigating the problems and working to provide a resolve for customers. In addition, the Redmond company also provided information on status code 80153065 for users attempting to access Marketplace. In this regard, the software giant already identified the source of the issue and has a mitigation available.

“When you try to download content from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, you receive the following error message: 'Can’t retrieve information from Xbox LIVE. Please try again later. Status code: 80153065' This problem may occur if you use an Xbox LIVE Child Account, and if your account region is set to New Zealand. If the regional requirements are set to New Zealand, Xbox LIVE does not allow Child Accounts to download content. This is true regardless of the settings for content rating or for parental control.”

In order to fix this issue all that Xbox LIVE Marketplace customers have to do is promote their accounts to an Adult Account level via Xbox LIVE Account Management.

That's nice of them, maybe they can tell me why their update gave my elite intermittent video glitches and freezing during game play and while in the dashboard.

Well, I rang Xbox Live customer support again and they told me that in coopertation with New Zealand authorities they are enforcing a new policy that under 18s cannot download content. They could not specifically tell me who, however they will be emailing me in 48 hours when they have this information.

It seems that some new law must have been passed, but I haven't heard anything about it. I told them that not all content is unsuitable for under 18s and that there will be a huge backlash from Xbox Live users because lots of them are under 18.

I urge you to ring up Xbox support, cancel your xbox live subscription and tell them why to boycot this new barbaric law. They will be forced to do something about this if enough people cancel. I will post details of the authority once I receive my email. Spread the word!

This is definitely going to affect Xbox and their clients as Jaredl stated, lots of Xbox Live users are under 18.

I went out and brought a 3000 point pre-paid card today ($54.98) only to get the same error message. It would be nice next time if Xbox LIVE tells it's clients the changes it has made before we got out and spend money.

Thanks Microsoft.

The New Zealand Xbox Live teams have been replaced with Australians. We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we assure you that they will continue to disallow your use of the Xbox Live Marketplace and also deflect any enquiries into the matter while they do so.

Your only hope at this point would be to create a new account originating in a different country (In order to confuse the Australians), or to turn 18 (So that the Australians wouldn't dare cross you).

Finally I would like to apologise for any offense this message may give; it was all in jest. Cheers to the Aussies.
