Users have been complaining that her voice sounds rather robotic

Even though having Cortana available in your country is a great deal, it looks like Windows Phone users in the UK have already started to complain that Microsoft’s digital assistant does not sound as human like as her US counterpart.

Cortana has just been introduced in the UK, so those who wish to take advantage of what it has to offer will have to download and install the latest Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1.

Users in the UK who managed to do that and did not receive the infamous error 8018830f that prevents you from installing the GDR1 update, can now enjoy chit chatting with one of the most advanced digital assistants for mobile platforms that’s ever been created, Cortana.

The thing is that most of UK users who already updated to Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 and are now using Cortana are not content with her voice at all.

The general consent is that UK Cortana sounds rather robotic with not much emotion in her voice, which is why people claim it’s not as humorous as the US version of the digital assistant.

The good news is that Microsoft is taking all the feedback it gets from Windows Phone users seriously, and UK customers will be pleased to know that the company plans to rectify this “issue.”

A Microsoft official, member of the Cortana team, has already confirmed that they are already working on something that will make the digital assistant sound more human like.

In fact, a second member of the Cortana team has joined the conversation on Twitter and stated that they are now working on a solution to make the voice less robotic and closer to that of humans.

Obviously, there’s no telling when exactly the solution will be released, but judging by how quick Microsoft has been able to bring Cortana to other countries, in various states of development, and how many updates have already been released for the US version, we expect UK users to have a nice surprise very soon.

In the same piece of news, it looks like Windows Phone users prefer to have something to choose from when it comes to voice rather than letting Microsoft decide for them.

For those unaware, Cortana is voiced in the US by Jen Taylor, but Microsoft decided to offer voice specific accents in other countries for better results. Obviously, these will be voiced by other persons.

However, it would be nice if you were allowed to choose from Cortana’s original voice or your country-specific voice.
