The Moscow District Federal Court has just ruled in the favor of Microsoft, the software company that claimed rights over the Windows.ru domain previously owned by Russian businessman Dmitry Shapovalov.

According to RAPSI, the Moscow Commercial Court initially decided on April 17 that Shapovalov’s domain infringes Microsoft’s trademark and decided to give the Redmond-based technology company full control of the domain name.

Shapovalov’s website hosted information concerning aircraft and various equipment that could infringe the Windows trademark, the source writes.

Microsoft has already taken control of the domain name and modified its settings to point to the official Russian website of its Windows operating system.

The site now features the traditional Windows 8-inspired design, also available on all the other Windows corporate websites worldwide and belonging to the software company.
