Microsoft has announced today at the 10th annual CEO Summit a new application through which enterprise employees will be able to search information on the Internet, desktop and through the company's network.
The person who introduced the new product, which will bear the same name as the web search engine, Windows Live Search, was no other than Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates. He said that trends in the "new world of work" create a need for companies to rethink how employees find, analyze and act on vital corporate information.
The new product will be available as an add-on to the company's current desktop search solution, and will be integrated in the next version of the OS.
According to the Associated Press, Windows Live Search will be available only to those who use Microsoft's SharePoint server software, which is designed to help companies find and share information.
Experts think that the decision of the Redmond company to offer such a solution was foreseeable, Google already having a similar product on the market.
