The AppFest coding marathon ended and Microsoft is an official Guinness World Record holder, but company officials promise to focus even more on its Indian operations in the future.

This includes looking for Indian talents that could be a part of Microsoft’s continuously growing workforce, said Bhaskar Pramanik, chairman of Microsoft India.

Pramanik told Business Standard that his company is keen to continue its progress in India and finding new talents capable of helping the technology firm achieve its goals is a priority.

“As far as Microsoft is concerned, we will continue to harness Indian talents. Microsoft has great faith on Indian talents and their productivity. So whether harnessing the skills of the developers community here or people who we want to hire for our organization, we will continue to do that,” Pramanik said.

India is currently the second largest employee base for Microsoft outside the United States, as the local division currently employs more than 5,300 people. Microsoft has a global workforce of more than 94,000 employees.

“I think the IT companies in India are extremely competent and they understand the challenges of the external environment. So, they very well understand how they are going to manage the situation,” Pramanik added.

Microsoft’s AppFest festival was specifically aimed at Indian talents and allowed them to express their passion for coding as part of an 18-hour attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records. The company did manage to set a world record for the Most Participants in a Software Development Marathon in One Location, as no less than 2,567 developers created Windows 8 apps for 18 hours in a row.
