Redmond exec says that the company is not afraid of competition

Microsoft is trying to expand its business into some unexplored sides of the market, including hardware and new cloud services, but this is only a small part of its plan to fully embrace a mobile first, cloud first approach.

At this point, Microsoft is said to be working on several new projects, including smartwatches, tablets, large-touchscreen displays, and many others, so it’s no surprise that the company is getting more rivals in basically every single sector where it’s already active in.

Of course, with so many projects in the pipeline at this moment, Microsoft is expected to compete with even more companies, including some of its existing partners.

This isn’t a problem, however, and a Microsoft executive says that despite the competition, the world’s number one software maker has what it takes to always come up with something more innovative.

Craig Hodges, general manager of Microsoft's Gulf Coast office, admits in an interview that his company has a lot or rivals right now, but he’s confident that, thanks to the “smart people” that the software giant employs, Redmond should remain among the pioneers in the tech industry.

"A lot of competition is coming at us every day, and we're coming right back at them," Hodges says.

Needless to say, Microsoft is really facing serious competition in markets such as mobile OS, search engines, tablets, and cloud, so Satya Nadella’s new approach to become “obsessed over customers” is pretty much the only way to go to succeed these days.
