For most computer users Microsoft is the everyday supplier of the famous Windows operating system. However, the Redmond, Washington-based software giant has, for a long time now, developed a line of computer-related peripherals, including mice, keyboards and web-cameras. One of their most recent releases comes in the form of a notebook cooling pad, dubbed Microsoft Notebook Cooling Base. The product, as you might have imagined, is meant to lower the temperature of those portable computer systems currently available on the market.

According to Microsoft, the new Cooling Base has been designed to provide a reliable cooling solution for a market segment that has grown impressively in the last period, having outpaced desktop PC sales. The pad offers reliable cooling, featuring a built-in fan and an efficient cooling channel to dissipate notebook-emitted heat. The stylish Microsoft Notebook Cooling Base is just 1.16 inches thick, features cable management and is USB powered. As with most notebook cooling pads, Microsoft's product is also meant to prevent overheating, consequently improving the notebook's life.

In addition to the new Notebook Cooling Base, the software giant has also announced that its recently released Arc mouse will now be offered in four special edition colors, including deep olive, marine blue, eggplant purple and frost white, responding to the rapid market success rate of Microsoft's sleek Arc Mouse. The mouse, as some of you might remember, features a distinctive collapsible design that enables it to fold and reduce its size by almost half, allowing users to easily carry it around.

Microsoft said that the new notebook cooling pad would be available in both white and black color options and that users in the US would be able to purchase it starting this July for an estimated retail price of US$29.95. The special-edition Arc Mouse will be available this month for an estimated price of US$49.95. With the release, one has to wonder what Microsoft's Hardware Group is planning for an upcoming launch.
