Microsoft is cooking a number of improvements for its service center dedicated to volume licensing customers.

According to the Redmond company a number of enhancements will be introduced in November 2010, although a specific deadline for when the update will be rolled out hasn’t been provided yet.

Eric Ligman, Global Partner Experience Lead Microsoft Worldwide Partner Group revealed that input from customers leveraging VLSC has been essential in the development of the upcoming refresh.

“We have reached out to many partners and customers around the world through Live Meetings, interviews, hands-on usability studies, forums, and events to gather input and feedback on how to improve the VLSC,” he explained.

“We take this feedback seriously and are continually incorporating suggestions into the VLSC.”

There are a number of improvements planned for November 2010, Ligman promised. Following the update to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center, customers will have offline access to licensing as well as to relationship summaries.

At the same time, Microsoft will kick up a notch the Add Open License functionality.

Add Open License functionality is relatively new, having been offered to volume license customers earlier this year, in April.

By leveraging Add Open License, retailers can effectively manage their customers’ licenses and even provide download keys.

With the upcoming update to the service center, “resellers will be granted automatic access to the Authorization/License in the VLSC if their business e-mail address is included on the Open order form as the reseller,” Ligman stated.

In addition “customers can request that reseller access be denied through a 1-click link on an e-mail notification,” he explained.

The Redmond company offered only a taste of what’s planned for the November 2010 update to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center.

The promise from Ligman is that more information will be offered next month. In addition, existing customers using VLSC will be able to access a number of resources designed to help them get ready for the update.

“We will be communicating more details and providing training materials in October,” Ligman said.
