Microsoft continues the search for a new CEO, but according to some experts, the company is expected to make a public announcement in just a couple of weeks.

BGC Partners analyst Colin Gillis who covers Microsoft said in a note that the software giant is very likely to go for what he calls a “stay-the-course-guy with just a little better execution,” pointing out that Redmond could also go for an unexpected CEO.

“What I’ve been saying is it’s probably going to be someone whose name we haven’t heard of,” he said according to MarketWatch.

At this point, cloud boss Satya Nadella is the front-runner to take over the CEO role from Steve Ballmer, while internals Kevin Turner and Tony Bates are also said to be in the talks for this seat.

Former Nokia boss Stephen Elop, who will soon rejoin the software giant after Microsoft completes the acquisition of the Finish mobile phone maker, could also be the next CEO.
