"How about a port?" "NO!"

We've heard about next-gen console wars, but never to this day, has this competition seemed so fierce, specially when involving two huge names of the gaming industry, like Microsoft and Nintendo. Well, they both have their problems: the Xbox Live isn't working so well, while the Wii shortage is still a common issue. However, there's an extra problem on the minds of the companies' officials right now, as the paths of these giants have crossed at a common point named GoldenEye, one of the most famous James Bond games.

GoldenEye was supposed to be ported on the Xbox Live Arcade, but Nintendo didn't agree with this move. Too bad that they were a tad late in announcing that, since Microsoft had already started the development of the new title. Satoru Iwata (Nintendo's president) seemingly blocked the release of GoldenEye on XBLA, since he claims that the game was originally released on Nintendo's hardware and it shouldn't be made available on the Xbox 360.

There was even a deal ready to come into action, involving big profits for both sides and Nintendo wasn't as displeased with the project, till Satoru Iwata canned the whole thing, according to Kotaku. It's important to mention that Microsoft was already less than two months away from getting the game ready for release and now their work is useless, at least till the next deal. Imagine something like this happening to a Mario title, or to games like Lost Planet: Extreme Condition or Gears of War. They rocked on the Xbox 360 and they rocked on PC afterwards, with no trouble at all.

Lost Planet will even shine on the PS3 and there's even a rumor regarding a BioShock port for Sony's console. So why can Sony and Microsoft get along when it comes to offering gamers the chance to play great titles and Nintendo just can't?
