Software maker Microsoft rolled out Windows 8.1 Preview on June 26 and even if it’s still in development, plenty of users have rushed to install the first Windows 8 update on their computers.

The company has published a blog post to remind users that 8.1 Preview is still a testing version of what’s to come after Windows 8, so deploying it on critical computers is actually very risky.

As a result, you should continue using Windows 8 until the final version of the 8.1 update sees daylight, the Softies said. According to previous reports, this is going to happen in October.

“Remember that Windows 8.1 is still in development, and as such there is always some risk involved when using it, so testing on lab and other non-critical computers is recommended. For broad deployments we recommend that you target final Windows 8.1 release later this year,” Microsoft explained.
