If you search Google for “selfie,” you should come across not only photos taken by boys and girls from all over the world, but also a picture that Microsoft itself used to break all records when it comes to this particular ever-growing and exhilarating trend.

When they’re not working on Windows 10 and Windows Phone 10, the Softies also use their free time to take selfies, but not in the same way that you do.

A bunch of Microsoft employees, with help from people living in Bangladesh, managed to take the largest selfie in the whole world, an achievement that’s now waiting for confirmation from The Guinness Book of World records.

No less than 1,151 people participated in this initiative and it’s easy to see why: not everyone has the chance to appear in the world’s largest selfie in history.

All possible thanks to Lumia 730

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft used its very own device to take the world’s largest selfie, and since this was such an important achievement, the company needed a phone that could rise up to the expectations and take a wide photo including as many people as possible.

The phone they used was none other than “the selfie phone,” a Lumia 730 which comes with high-quality cameras featuring adjusted sensors and capable of wide angles to take the best selfies.

The 730 comes with a 6.7-megapixel camera on the back, Car Zeiss optics, autofocus, and LED flash, while the front camera has 5 megapixels and can shoot at 1080p.

Other than that, the Lumia 730 is quite a decent phone and comes with a 4.7-inches screen with a resolution of 720x1280px, 8 GB of internal storage, and 1 GB of RAM.

33,000 likes on Facebook

Even though the selfie was taken in Bangladesh, people from all over the world liked Microsoft’s effort and the company now brags that no less than 33,000 likes were received in the first hours after the selfie was posted on Facebook.

“Unfortunately, the picture perfect crowd can’t lay official claim to taking part in selfie history just yet, as we’re still waiting for confirmation from The Guinness Book of World Records. But we’re very confident that soon this photo will be crowned the biggest ever,” the company stated.

Not that we’re haters or anything like that, but doesn’t the word selfie imply looking at the camera when taking the photo? If yes, does the man in the orange shirt in the second row of people count in? By the way, he’s most likely a Microsoft employee.
