A special landing page is aimed at all Safari users

Microsoft tries to make the impossible possible and turn Bing into a more popular search engine as compared to Google, doing all kinds of tricks to convince users that its service deserves all the attention in the world.

Emil Protalinsky of thenextweb.com found that Microsoft created a special landing page for Safari users that shows them four main reasons for which Google deserves to be dumped.

Back in February 2012, it was discovered that Google tracked Internet usage of Safari users, so the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) started an investigation on the matter. The conclusion was as simple as it could be: Google breached users' privacy, so the Mountain View-based search giant was fined $22.5 million / €17.3 million.

The landing page tells this story again in just four steps, urging Safari users to make the move to Bing. Here's how Microsoft sees the whole saga: - Google promised it would not track Safari users. - Google broke its promise and tracked Safari users without their permission. - Google used this improperly obtained information to target ads for profit. - The FTC took action against Google in the form of a record $22.5 million / €17.3 million penalty.

The best way to protect your privacy while performing online searches? Use Bing, says Microsoft.

“If you are a Safari user, Google may have recently tracked you even though it promised it would not. Want to do something about it? Stop searching with Google and start searching with Bing. Better yet, make Bing your homepage and start every search with Bing,” Microsoft suggests on the website.

The landing page is here, but it's not yet clear how Microsoft plans to get Safari users to it. Loading the Bing main page in Safari works just like in any other browser, so an official statement for the Redmond-based company would really come in handy right now.
