This is the only way to make Surface RT a truly successful product

With the Pro version going on sale in just a couple of days, Microsoft needs to cut Surface RT pricing significantly in order to make sure that its first tablet in history has a chance to succeed.

That’s what Tim Coulling, senior analyst at Canalys, said in a statement for The Channel, while also estimating that Microsoft had sold a total of 722,000 tablets since launch.

“We expect Microsoft to rethink its pricing strategy for RT in the coming weeks. Dropping the price by 60 per cent should get OEMs back onside,” Coulling was quoted as saying.

While Microsoft remains completely tight-lipped on Surface RT sales, analysts and retailers across the world claim the device has posted rather disappointing results, even though the Redmond-based technology giant has been marketing it aggressively since launch.
