Microsoft announced earlier this year with much fanfare that Windows 10 would be offered as a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 users within the first year of availability, so the company is now trying to make sure that everyone knows about this promo and upgrades their computers.

In a new series of videos published on YouTube, Microsoft claims that upgrading a Windows 7 computer to Windows 10 is so easy that even a 10-year-old boy can do it, so there’s no reason to refuse this offer and stick to an old version of the operating system.

Indeed, moving from Windows 7 to Windows 10 is just a matter of clicks, and doing it shouldn’t take more than an hour once all files are downloaded to your computer.

And Microsoft has developed a system that allows this entire process to be performed automatically, so beginners should have no issue in doing it too.

Windows 10 upgrade tool

Starting this Monday, Microsoft is showing Windows 10 upgrade notifications on computers running Windows 7 and 8.1, and users can reserve their free copy of the new OS.

If they do that, Windows 10 files are automatically downloaded in the background between their reservation date and July 29, the day when the new OS comes out, so on that day, Windows 10 installation will automatically start and your computer will be easily upgraded.

The free Windows 10 upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 computers allows as many re-installs as you want after the new operating system is activated on your device, and updates and improvements will continue to be offered during the supported lifetime of your computer.

With Windows 10, Microsoft is also planning to tweak the update system, so new features and improvements will be released as soon as they’re ready, without the need to wait for a longer period of time to get them. Previously, Microsoft released new Windows versions every three years.
