Windows 8.1 comes with a brand new Start button that instantly gets users to the Start screen, so many adopters have actually considered pretty much a waste of time.

The company has tried to improve its functionality in the RTM version of the operating system by adding options to quickly sign out from your computer, a feature that was until now available from the Start screen exclusively.

Leaked build 9471 comes with an updated Start button, so right-clicking it now brings up a feature called “Shut down or sign out” that lets you sign out, put the computer to sleep, shut it down, or restart the workstation.

On the other hand, there’s still no option to disable the Start button completely, while the dedicated setting to boot directly to desktop is still there, even if Microsoft expects it to become obsolete very soon.
