Microsoft is on fire these days, as the company announced a timeframe for the launch of Windows 10 and its mobile sibling. The Redmond company also confirmed lots of new features that will be part of the Windows 10 for Phones, but also some partnerships with companies like Lenovo and Xiaomi.

Now it looks like Microsoft is improving some of its apps and services as well. For a long time, Windows Phone users have been receiving lots of updates for two applications, Xbox Music and Video.

Today, Microsoft announced a new update for Xbox Music for Windows Phone, which is supposed to add OneDrive integration. Thanks to that, Windows Phone users will be able to access their personal music collection from OneDrive on their smartphones.

This means that there will be more free storage space left on your smartphone because you can now keep it in the cloud and access it even on the go, but that will require a stable Internet connection.

100GB of free OneDrive storage for Xbox Music Pass owners

In order to do that, you will need to upload the music files to the new “Music” folder in OneDrive and that music will appear in the Xbox Music apps for Windows Phone 8.1. The same feature will be available on Windows 8.1 as well.

Obviously, you could also listen to your music from OneDrive on the web without having to own an Xbox Music Pass. Microsoft also stated that those who do own an Xbox Music Pass will be offered an extra 100GB of storage on OneDrive for free for all their music collection.

Keep in mind that Windows Phone users who do not have an Xbox Live account and never used the service before, will need to sign up for one in order to have their music from OneDrive show up in the Xbox Music application for Windows Phone 8.1.
