Since Microsoft only released Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview for six smartphones, users who own other Lumia handsets thought of a way to install the new version of the operating system on their devices.

It didn't take too long to figure out how you can redirect Windows 10 for Phones Preview to non-compatible smartphones mingling with the registry of the Fiddler application.

Several more steps need to be followed in order to put Windows 10 for Phone Preview on your smartphones, which we already described in our previous article.

However, Microsoft learned about this option that those who don't own a smartphone eligible for Windows 10 for Phone Preview have and decided they should close the security loop in their Fiddler application.

In this regard, the latest update for the Windows Inside application is supposed to prevent users from hacking the Fiddler app and redirect Windows 10 Preview updates to unsupported smartphones.

Owners of unsupported smartphones with microSD cards can still hack the Preview

Obviously, this hasn't been confirmed by Microsoft on the changelog, but there have been many reports claiming that you can no longer hack your way into Microsoft's apps to bring Windows 10 Preview on your smartphone if you update to the latest version of Windows Insider app.

This means that if you haven't already installed Windows 10 for Phone Technical Preview on your unsupported smartphone, but plan on doing it soon, then you shouldn't update your Windows Insider app.

As for when Microsoft will enable access to this version of Windows Phone for additional smartphone models, that's a bit hard to speculate.

The Redmond-based company often promised updates for Windows 10 Preview, but that doesn't necessarily include adding support more smartphones.

Perhaps Microsoft will offer more details on the matter in early March when the company will attend to Mobile World Congress 2015 trade fair. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
