Creating a basic Windows or Windows Phone app is not at all a hard thing, even if you have no coding skills, because the Windows App Studio has all the features to make this process fast, simple, and user friendly.

And thanks to an update released this morning, this web-based service is even more powerful, as it now comes with more themes, improved Facebook and YouTube integration, and a logo and image wizard.

First and foremost, the new logo and image wizard is undoubtedly the most important addition to the service, because thanks to this feature, you no longer have to create images of several sizes to use as splash screen and icons.

Starting with this version, you just have to update a JPEG or PNG image file that can be then used for all the other tiles and icons with a simple crop wizard tool. Everything is faster and you also get a preview to see what the result would look like.

Better Facebook and YouTube integration

Starting today, the Windows App Studio also features API updates for Facebook and YouTube, as was the case with Instagram and Twitter in the previous update.

“This also allows for a greater range of content display types for each data source. For example with our new YouTube DataSource you can choose playlists, searches, or a full user feed,” Microsoft explains.

And last but not least, there are eight new fully customizable themes available in Windows App Studio that should help you make apps a bit more eye candy.

“Additionally, we’ve added a property to define the color that some layouts use to avoid contrast problems. Along with this feature we have added the ability to use an image as a header, instead of the default text used in previous iterations,” the company states.

The Windows App Studio is completely free for everyone with a Microsoft account and can be used with any browser at this address.
