Microsoft has just rolled out a new version of Xbox Video, the default video player implemented in Windows 8 and 8.1 which can be used right in the Modern interface.

According to the updated entry in the Windows Store, the new version of Xbox Video only comes to address bugs and performance issues, so no new features are part of this release.

“Xbox Video brings you the latest HD movies and TV shows on your Windows 8/Windows RT device and makes it easy to watch what you love wherever you are. Rent and buy new blockbuster movies and favorite classics, or catch up on last night's episodes of the hottest TV shows,” it's mentioned in the app description.

Just like before, Xbox Video works on all versions of Windows 8.1, including on tablets powered by Windows RT 8.1, so you should really have a look in the store and get the fresh build right now.

As an alternative option, you can manually download Video for Windows 8.1 right now if you do not wish to wait. If you haven't changed the default Windows Store configuration, the update might be automatically downloaded and installed for your device, without further input needed.
