Microsoft has already made some tweaks to the Bing Smart Search available in Windows 8.1 to allow users to look for content online and offline by writing down phrases, but it appears that the company has prepared another set of improvements for Bing.

According to a report by EnConnected, users can now search for music with Bing, on both the web and Windows platforms, and play the songs they find directly into Xbox Music.

Searching for music on Windows 8.1 is easy. Just launch the charms bar, click on 'Search' and type in the name of the artist whose song you want to listen to. Windows 8.1 will then display a list of songs and clicking the play button launch Xbox Music in the Modern UI.

Of course, Bing would display plenty of other details, including album covers, artist information, as well as song data, such as duration. The same behavior applies to the Bing Smart Search and Bing web, the report states.

Microsoft is working to make Bing a key part of its devices and service strategy, with Windows search features now entirely powered by this particular product. Word is that Bing could soon be significantly revamped on Windows with the addition of Cortana, the personal assistant that's already available on Windows Phone 8.1.
