They offer support for automated migration to SQL Server

Microsoft has made available for download new versions of four of its SQL Server Migration Assistants that professionals can use to migrate to SQL Server.

With these tools, the migration to Microsoft’s SQL Server can be automated. The free software offers support for the migration of assessment analysis, schema and SQL statement conversion, as well as for data migration and for the testing of migration.

All four of them are now up for download as version 5.2, and should offer a smoother transition process than they did before.

[ADMARK]Today, users can download upgraded versions of Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Oracle, for MySQL, for Sybase and for Access. You will find the necessary download links below.

Those who will hit the download link, will get a GUI client based application that will offer them the possibility to manage migration process.

SSMA for Oracle also packs an extension pack to be installed on target SQL Server, offering the possibility to emulate Oracle features that are not natively supported in SQL server.

It also comes with a tester database to support SSMA Testing, and an application to facilitate direct server-to-server data migration.

With SSMA for MySQL v5.2, migration from MySQL 4.1 and higher to SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012, and SQL Azure is supported.

The SQL Server Migration Assistant for Sybase offers support for migrating Sybase ASE version 11.9 and higher to the aforementioned editions of SQL Server and SQL Azure.

SSMA for Access v5.2 was meant to provide support for migration from Microsoft Access 97 and higher to the said versions of SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012, and SQL Azure.

These tools offer support for Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista, Windows XP.

They require Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 or a later, Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 or later, 1 GB RAM, and access to the computer that hosts the target instance of SQL Server, along with all the necessary permissions to enable the transfer.
