Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0.5 is out for Mac OS X and iOS, packing a number of fixes and enhancements for the remote computing solution.

According to the Redmond, WA-based software juggernaut, “With the Microsoft Remote Desktop app, you can connect to a remote PC and your work resources from almost anywhere. Experience the power of Windows with RemoteFX in a Remote Desktop client designed to help you get your work done wherever you are.”

A two-app solution, Microsoft Remote Desktop 8 requires a desktop app to be installed on the PC and the iOS client installed on an iPhone or iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. iPod touch players are compatible as well.

The tool lets you access remote resources through the Remote Desktop Gateway and offers a rich multi-touch experience with RDP and RemoteFX support, secure access to your data and apps, a connection center for managing all remote connections, high-quality video and sound streaming, and easy connection to external video output gear.

Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0.5 for iPhone and iPad delivers audio quality improvements and “a number of bug fixes,” according to Microsoft. The desktop update (also numbered 8.0.5) addresses an issue where an “Access Denied” error was returned during Windows Logon.
