Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has completed the development of a new set of features for Office Web Apps, its web-based productivity service that brings tools like Word and Excel right in your browser.

The new round of improvements includes real-time co-authoring that allows multiple editors to work in the same documents at the same time, without the need for a refresh to see the changes.

The PowerPoint Web App will be the first to get this option, while all the other tools included in the suite are projected to receive it in the coming months.

“We’ll introduce real time co-authoring in the Office Web Apps so that all file authors will automatically see presence and edits from others as they happen without needing to refresh. This is a subtle change, but a great enhancement to enable even richer collaboration,” Microsoft explains.

In addition, Microsoft is also introducing support for the mobile version of Google Chrome, thus makings it service available on Android tablets too.
