Redmond-based Microsoft has just made available for download a new version of the Microsoft My Phone solution for handsets powered by its Windows Mobile operating system. The update application, as well as the My Phone service, is available for all devices powered by the company's Windows Mobile 6.0 or higher platform, and offers syncing of personal information between the phone and the web.

The new version 01.06.22718.0001 of My Phone is available for download for “mobile phones running Windows Mobile 6.0, 6.1, or 6.5, as well as Windows phones,” Microsoft notes on its website. At the same time, the software giant indicates that the app and service can be enjoyed on both touchscreen and non-touchscreen devices, yet there are two different versions available for download, in accordance with the device type one uses.

We should also note that the My Phone solution is available both for Professional and Standard flavors of the Windows Mobile operating system. Those willing to download the new flavor of the software solution will be able to do so via a desktop computer, from where it can be copied on the Windows phone and installed through following the on-screen instructions.

In case you are not yet familiar with the backup service from Microsoft, here's what the company says about it: “Microsoft My Phone provides online access to the content on your Windows mobile phone. This free service syncs the important information on your Windows phone (e.g., contacts, calendar appointments, tasks, text messages, photos, video, etc.) with a password protected Web site. Once synchronized, it’s easy to back-up and restore your phone data. My Phone provides an easy-to-use Web portal where you can access and manage content on your phone, and share that information with others.”

Windows Mobile phone owners who want to benefit from the My Phone service also need to have a data plan in place when using it from their mobile phones, so as to avoid unwanted charges. The application is available for download from Softpedia via this link.
