Microsoft has tuned its iOS application designed to allow users to capture panoramas, and if the evolution of the app is not enough for you, the company is gearing up to award the best panoramas you can create with Xbox 360 with Kinect prizes.

Photosynth for iOS is now at version 1.1, just two months after it was initially introduced, with Eric Bennett, Senior Program Manager, Bing’s Photosynth Team stressing that customer feedback was taken into account when building the upgrade.

And by the looks of it, Microsoft has had to listen to large volumes of user input, seeing how in excess of 3.5 million people downloaded the original release of Photosynth App for iOS.

Photosynth for iOS 1.1 brings to the table a collection of comprehensive enhancements, streamlining sharing, simplifying exploration of content from other users, and making it easier for panoramas to be emailed to friends.

“Today’s update adds email sharing and image cropping capabilities when you save a panorama to the Camera Roll, which means you can more easily bring your panoramas into other apps. We’ve also made sharing to Facebook and Bing Maps easier than before, allowing you to share to both at the same time,” Bennett explains.

“The new "Best of Bing Maps" feature lets you explore great panoramas created by others and shared on Bing Maps directly within the app.”

Apple users running such devices as iPhone 4, iPhone 3Gs, iPod Touch fourth generation, and iPad 2 can visit iTunes and download Photosynth for iOS 1.1 immediately.

Once they’ve started creating panoramas they’d better share them with the world through the new “Best of Bing Maps” feature. As I’ve already said, Microsoft is planning to offer prizes for the best synths provided by users.

“To encourage even more sharing, we are even giving away an Xbox 360 with Kinect each week to the very best mobile panorama. You can read the details, including official contest rules, in the “Best of Bing Maps” feature in the app,” Bennett added.
